Balvenie has recently released a new highly limited edition as part of their stories. Following the 12-year-old, "The Sweet toast of American Oak", the 14-year-old, "The week of peat", the 26-year-old, "A day of dark barley", the latest of the family is a 19-year-old, "Edge of Burnhead Wood".
This whisky has been made only from local ingredients. The home grown barley was malted at the Balvenie Maltings and the water is coming from the nearby Robbie Dhu spring. The whisky has been bottled at a generous 48.7%. The official tasting notes are the following:
NOSE Lively and vibrant, this balvenie has notes of fig And geranium oil perfectly balanced with fresh herbal undertones reminiscent of green woodland.
TASTE Flavours of honey, cloves and caramelised baked dates are layered on top of delicate citrus and spice. The Sweetness reveals an underlying oaky dryness.
FINISH Lingering, oaky, dried blossom.
It has just been out for a few days and will be at the shops until stock last. As part of the series it is the 2nd most expensive one after the 26-year-old as it is now at a price tag of £260, available on whisky-hamster at some of our partner shops right here.
Hope you'll enjoy it!
